Snow Day!

Oscar from Peru said that he hoped he got to see a big snow storm while he was here… his wishes have been granted! I am not sure what things are like in Winona, where they’re spending this week, but here in Northfield we had an early release snow day. (Every kid and teacher’s dream!) Here’s the scene from outside my window in Northfield:

Oscar says that some of the cities we’re visiting will be hot and humid, while some will have climate like Minnesota.  This is presenting quite the packing challenge!

We met the inbound Peruvian team at their hotel in Bloomington on Saturday (3/29). Unfortunately, due to flight delays, we were only able to meet with two of the members, Oscar and Narda. It was a good chance for our team to practice our Spanish (Erin proved that charades can go a long way), ask some last minute questions about Peru and receive some words of wisdom from our new friends…such as, pack for various climates, let your stomach get settled before you try the ceviche, and visit Machu Picchu!

Noche del Cine

Taking a break from traditional planning, the team got together at Sarah’s house in Northfield to watch Los Incredibles en Espanol (with English subtitles for those of us still diligently working on perfecting our Spanish).

We each brought a dish that was representative of our families…and we had a feast! Sushi, hot dogs, caramel corn, TWO hot & spicy jambalya dishes

Bill even baked a chocolate cake!

Now we’re just counting down the days until we leave!
¡Somos listos! ¡Vayamos a Perú!
